The 1.70 carat, Natural Black Opal / Lightning Ridge Opal has moderate saturation and excellent clarity, and is a sparkling watercolor-blue color with swirls of rainbow color-play! Photos are taken under professional lighting and are magnified at 50x zoom to show details that may not be visible to the naked eye. The ring is clearly hallmarked 18K and the designer logo OPEX on the inside of the 2mm band. Opex Opal has been in business since 1955, and is a very well-known leader in the Opal Industry. When worn, the top of the ring/stone is elevated about 6.5mm from the finger.

The majority of Black Precious Opals come from Lightning Ridge and are the most famous and sought after Opals in the world. The deep body color makes the iridescent play of color strikingly different from light Opals. Black Opal, such as this, are considered to be extremely lucky and the most uplifting of the Opals, bringing Light into the aura. It eases distress and dissolves depression and hopelessness, helping one face their darkest fears and to release that which is holding one back. Opal contains every color of the spectrum, from deepest and clearest blues and iridescent greens, through to golden orange, red and fuchsia; it can be pale and delicate, or dark and brilliant. Due to its structure, opal may contain any combination of an infinite number of patterns and may reveal itself all at once - glorious from all directions – or it may be quiet and surprising, showing its greatest brilliance only during flashes of movement. Indeed, precious opal is like no other gemstone because it changes color as the observer turns the stone.
**Currently a size 7 ¾ but could be sized, free of charge, by my master jeweler so that it is ready to be gifted or worn upon arrival! Most rings can be sized a maximum of 3-4 sizes up or down depending on the style of the ring. Please indicate your desired size at checkout and allow up to 10 business days for my local expert jeweler to complete sizing. I do not accept returns on items that have been custom sized or altered at your request so if you are unsure about an item it may be best to have it sized by your local jeweler just in case.
