The .12 carat, Natural Alexandrite has vivid saturation and excellent clarity with no visible inclusions and is a mesmerizing green-to-purple color! Photos are taken under professional lighting and are magnified at 50x zoom to show details that may not be visible to the naked eye. Accenting the rare gemstone are 1.25mm round brilliant cut, natural Diamond accents (12 total) that are H color with VS2-SI1 clarity and weigh a combined total of 0.12 carats. The ring is clearly hallmarked 14K on the inside of the 2mm band. When worn, the top of the ring/stone is elevated about 8.50mm from the finger.

Often described by gem aficionados as “emerald by day, ruby by night,” alexandrite is the very rare color-change variety of the mineral chrysoberyl. The story of the stone’s discovery goes like this: Miners were working alone in the mountains one day, collecting emeralds. One miner gathered some stones, which looked like emeralds and took them back to the camp at the end of the day. But in the light of the campfire, the stones shone a brilliant shade of red! The miners were perplexed. When morning came and they saw that the stones were green again in the light, they realized that they had found a new and mysterious gem. Alexandrite is an alternative birthstone for the month of June and the Anniversary stone for the 55th year of marriage. It is an extremely rare gemstone.
**Currently a size 6 ¼ but could be sized, free of charge, by my master jeweler so that it is ready to be gifted or worn upon arrival! Most rings can be sized a maximum of 3-4 sizes up or down depending on the style of the ring. I do not accept returns on items that have been custom sized or altered at your request so if you are unsure about an item, it may be best to have it sized by your local jeweler just in case.
